We host a group of Harding University students from Arkansas each year, in an effort to reach out to the community, and have been successful in encouraging youth to devote themselves to God. The church has letterboxed extensively in the Redlands area and have found a good response to our offer of free Bible Correspondence Courses. Each alternate year, Harding University conducts and three-month study course for up to 50 students in Cleveland. The church benefits through the input of these young adults as well as by the mature teaching of the accompanying faculty members.

The Nerang congregation came into existence in 1969, when Forest Suddeath and others moved into the area from the United States. In 1970 Clyde Baggett, a vocational missionary, moved to Nerang from Burbank, USA, to assist those already working in the Gold Coast region. Attendance then numbered 15. Visitor numbers swell regularly as the Gold Coast is a vacation destination. The Congregation doctrinally stable and adopts a capella singing. There are no full time workers. Clyde used to administer a video tape distribution ministry, the material being taken from the “Truth in Love” TV Programs and “We Care” Ministries. Both programs are from the United States. Clyde has sent copies of these tapes to all parts of Australia. These tapes are excellent teaching tools for class and personal study. Enquiries related to these ministries can be directed to Clyde Baggett, or in writing to the church. Currently, the church is involved in a “Youth and Young at Heart” or “YAYAH” youth ministry focussed on bringing together the youth of South East Queensland churches of Christ and a “Visiting Preacher” program (every second Sunday in the month) which provides an opportunity for aspiring teachers and preachers from other congregations to exercise their talents. Dave Reynolds, Frank Gnanam and Anrdrew Wishart manage the teaching and preaching.
